Dezentralschweiz – from a meetup to a Bitcoin community

How Dezentralschweiz came about

Dezentralschweiz grew out of the Telegram meetup group "Bitcoin und Beer". What began as a casual exchange among Bitcoiners developed into a community for in-person meetups, sharing knowledge and learning together across Switzerland - from Basel via Central Switzerland and Chur all the way to Lugano.

Inspired by the design of the EINUNDZWANZIG meetup community the idea for a logo of our own came about. A member eventually suggested the name "Dezentralschweiz" - a play on words combining decentralised money (dezentral) and Central Switzerland (Zentralschweiz).

The idea fit. The name stuck, the logo was developed and a Switzerland-wide Bitcoin community grew out of a Telegram chat. The roots of Dezentralshop lie in exactly this environment, as we recount on our About us page.

Motif and meaning

The sticker stands for local meetups and real conversations instead of a purely anonymous online bubble. It shows belonging to a Swiss Bitcoin community that shares knowledge and moves Bitcoin forward together.
