Motif and meaning

In the Bitcoin network, origin, name, wealth or political status play no role. No one has to apply for an account or ask a central authority for permission.

Anyone can create a wallet, send transactions, run their own node or help secure the network. The same publicly verifiable rules apply to everyone.

"In the Bitcoin network you can be whoever you want" also means: you don't have to reveal your identity to take part. What matters is not who you are, but whether your transaction complies with the network's rules.

This openness makes Bitcoin a free network - globally accessible, permissionless and with no central bouncer.
